Not sure how to use Baobab Powder? Here are 5 delicious recipes!
If you haven't already heard of Baobab, it is a fruit bore by The Magnificent Baobab Tree native to Africa, Arabia, Australia and Madagascar! The fruit is used for it's incredibly nutritional value! It is packed with necessary vitamins and minerals like Vitamin C and B6, Calcium, Potassium, Magnesium, Iron, Zinc, Niacin and Thiamine! It is also a great gut friendly fruit! If this has not convinced you to add Baobab to your diet, the recipes surely will!
Baobab Porridge Bowl
50 g oats
400 ml almond milk
2 tbsp Dhow's Organic Baobab Powder
1 tbsp Chia Seeds
1 tbsp maple syrup
Put the oats and chia In a saucepan and pour almond milk. Bring to the boil and simmer for 4-5 minutes, stirring from time to time.
Add baobab powder and maple syrup and combine.
Enjoy with your favourite toppings.

Baobab & Lemon Poppyseed Muffins
280 g all purpose flour
80 g almond flour
150 g sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
Zest 2 lemons
2-3 tbsp poppy seeds
130 g butter/ vegan butter
140 ml milk (dairy/plant)
140 g yoghurt
2 large eggs/ flax egg
4 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp Dhow's Organic Baobab Powder
Mix all dry ingredients together, then add all wet ingredients and mix. Pour mix into muffin cups to almost full and put it in the oven for 18-20 mins at 190°C. Leave in tins until cool, decorate with lemon & thyme.
Baobab & Blackberry Pancakes
135 of self-rising flour
15 of agave syrup
5 g of baking powder
25 g of Dhow's Organic Baobab Powder
130 ml of plant-based milk
1 egg/ flax egg
15 grams of melted plant-based butter
Pinch of salt
Mix together all the ingredients with a stand mixer. Combine till it’s a smooth batter. Heat a frying pan and add some butter. Pour a little bit of the mixture into the pan. Flip the pancakes once the bubbles start to appear. Cook until the both sides are brown and top with homemade yoghurt with blackberries, strawberries and blueberries!
Baobab & Berry Smoothie Bowl
400 g mixed frozen berries
2 ripe bananas
2 tbsp of honey
4 tbsp baobab powder
Fresh fruits and granola for toppings
Add all the ingredients into your blender and blend until smooth! Add your toppings and enjoy!
Baobab, Vegan Peanut Butter Raspberry Cheesecake Slice
FOR THE BASE:
1 cup pecans
1½ cups pitted dates
¼ cup pumpkin seeds
2 TBSP cacao powder
FOR THE FILLING:
1 cup raw cashews (soaked for 15 mins in boiling water)
¼ cup maple syrup
1 cup coconut cream
1 tsp vanilla
¼ cup smooth peanut butter
3-4 TBSP baobab powder
¾ cup raspberries
In a food processor, process all the base ingredients until sticky. Press down into the base of a lined square baking tin (10cm tin is fine!). Set aside.
Add the filling ingredients into the food processor or blender and process until smooth and creamy. Pour over the base and smooth out with a spatula. Press down a few raspberries into the filling and scatter some more raspberries onto the top.
Place in the freezer to set for about 4 hours.
Slice and enjoy!
