Moringa for Low Iron Anemia

07 Oct 2021

Moringa: The Miracle Tree & It's Benefits for Low Iron Levels

Iron deficiency anemia, is a result of the lack of healthy red blood cells to carry enough oxygen to the body's tissues. The condition is usually due to the lack of the mineral iron in the body resulting in symptoms like:

  1. Fatigue
  2. Weakness
  3. Pale or yellowish skin
  4. Irregular heartbeats
  5. Shortness of breath
  6. Dizziness or lightheadedness
  7. Chest pain
  8. Cold hands and feet
  9. Headaches

The bone marrow requires efficient amounts of iron to produce hemoglobin for red blood cells. Therefore without adequate supplementation, iron levels may fall extremely short and lead to severe cases of iron deficiency Anemia.

Iron Deficiency & Moringa by Hazel & Cacao

Talida breastfed for a total of 2 years and one month. "I saw the return of my period when my baby was only 7 months old. The depletion of iron during pregnancy and the further depletion of iron due to menstruation while breastfeeding meant that for the first time in my life I have been dealing with low iron."

It is easy to shift to store-bought, iron supplements but can lead to experiencing adverse side effects which can cause other unprecedented complications. Such is the case for Talida. "Since I can not tolerate supplements, I have been doing research into wholefood forms of iron that I can take without reacting to them. This is when I discovered Moringa."

There are various reasons one can suffer from anemia and can occur in both, men & women however the various stages women go through in their lifespan, from menstruation, pregnancy, even breastfeeding increases women's chances of having an iron deficiency therefore making anemia more common in women.

Our organic Moringa is known for its abundant nutrient composition. Talida tells us why it is so beneficial:

1. First and foremost; Moringa is rich in Iron & Vitamin C:

One tbsp. of our organic Moringa powder has 7 x more iron than spinach. In Tanzania, a developing country, a study to understand the effects of Moringa powder supplementation on reducing anemia in children below 2 years was conducted. It found that hemoglobin levels increased and anemia cases reduced after 6 months of using Moringa powder.

Other recent studies have shown Moringa may be more beneficial for iron deficiency than conventional iron supplements.

2. Moringa is high in women specific nutrients:

A superfood highly rich in vitamins A, B, C & E. As well as essential minerals like magnesium and calcium. It contains about 4 x the calcium of milk. The combination of calcium, magnesium, b vitamins, vitamin c and vitamin e have all been studied for their ability to improve PMS in women. Moringa is so high in nutrients that many have termed it “natures multivitamin”.

3. Moringa can help lift and stabilize mood:

It is high in all 9 essential amino acids and a great supplement for the gastrointestinal tract. One of the amino acid it contains is called tryptophan which helps form the happy hormone; serotonin, positively impacting anxiety and depression.

4. It can improve libido:

Moringa helps increase testosterone levels in men and boost blood flow to reproductive organs in both men & women. It is said that the 'multivitamin' nature of the superfood reduces a great level of stress in the body which positively affects libido.

5. Moringa helps increase breastmilk supply:

In a 2003 study, the amount of breastmilk produced by lactating mothers who were given 350mg of Moringa every day showed a significant increase in breast milk in comparison to lactating mothers who were given a placebo.

Wondering how to add moringa to your diet?

It should ideally be taken in small amounts daily but it's also convenient to take precise doses in capsule form. Try our organic Moringa capsules

But why not change it up sometimes?
